Monolithic storage systems are often thought of of as the primary storage consolidation target, while modular storage systems remaining an afterthought. This paper illustrates the benefits of storage consolidation, discusses the different approaches to accomplishing it and highlight some considerations when using modular storage as the consolidation target.
