This study by IDC notes a significant increase in the implementation of storage and storage software to enable or facilitate continuous availability. When viewed solely from the perspective of the cost for redundant hardware and additional software, these solutions may appear expensive. However, the business value these solutions provide quickly justify the cost as demonstrated by the increasing number of organizations that are evaluating and implementing these storage solutions.
