According to recent analyst research, system and storage consolidation offers one of the best opportunities to bring IT resources under control and reduce budgets. This paper focuses on data consolidation from the branch office to a central location and highlights business benefits that can be achieved. A new strategy is introduced that combines data replication software and Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 based NAS devices ? a solution offered by LEGATO Software, Microsoft and EMC. This strategy is a new paradigm for branch office data protection, offering improvements in data protection in remote locations, while significantly reducing the cost to protect and manage those information assets.
